Moms Against EMF

When it comes time to think about family planning, women typically start asking a lot more questions about our health. We question the food we eat, the chemicals we use, the products we put on our skin. But there’s one crucial element that often goes unnoticed: the impact of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) on reproductive health.

We live in a world surrounded by technology. Phones, tablets, laptops, WiFi routers – they all expose us to EMFs every day. But did you know that these invisible waves can actually wreak havoc on the reproductive systems of both you and your partner? It’s something we don’t talk about enough – but we should – because protecting ourselves from EMFs is an important part of family planning.

How EMFs Impact Reproductive Health

Impact on Males

Let’s start with the guys, whose reproductive health is just as important when a couple is trying to conceive. Studies show the male reproductive system is one of the biological systems most affected by EMFs due to the sensitivity of the testes to the RF-EMF produced by cell phones, wireless devices, and other electronic devices. EMFs can lower testosterone levels and affect sperm quality and motility – which refers to how well sperm can move. Carrying a phone in a pocket or working with a laptop on the lap seems harmless, but habits like this that put wireless devices in close proximity to reproductive organs can actually impact sperm health.

A study focusing specifically on the impacts of radiation from cell phones, laptops, Wi-Fi – the most common sources of non-ionizing radiation – showed clear effects of EMFs on sperm. The study determined EMFs can contribute to the cause of infertility by detrimentally affecting sperm count, morphology, and motility. This study also showed EMFs producing genotoxicity and oxidative stress in males.

Impact on Females

For us women, EMF exposure has been linked to hormone disruptions which affect everything from menstrual cycles to ovarian function. Even before pregnancy, we need to minimize our EMF exposure to give ourselves the best chance of conceiving and having a healthy pregnancy.

One study found significant potential for reproductive harm from EMF exposure. This study, conducted on rodents, evaluated the effects of EMFs on different parts of the female reproductive system, and found the following results:

  • Hormonal Disruption: EMFs can alter estrogen and progesterone levels, affecting hormone cycles and potentially contributing to infertility.
  • Miscarriages: Increased risk of miscarriages and fetal abnormalities was linked to EMF exposure.
  • Ovulation and Fertility: EMFs inhibited ovulation, extended the estrous cycle, and impacted the corpus luteum, which is responsible for maintaining an environment in the uterus that allows for implantation and pregnancy.
  • Oxidative Stress: Increased oxidative stress was observed in female rodents exposed to EMFs.
  • Embryo Development: EMF exposure during pregnancy negatively affected embryo growth and survival.

Other laboratory studies have shown similar findings, which has encouraged many women to start limiting their own exposure to EMFs when pregnant or trying to conceive.

Why EMF Protection is Critical When TTC

Whether you’re actively trying to conceive or know it’s in your future plans, taking steps to protect yourself and your partner from EMF exposure is so important. We don’t need to be afraid, but we do need to be informed. After all, we do our research and make conscious choices about our diet, exercise, skin care products, and household chemicals to support our health when pregnant or trying to conceive. We also need to be aware of how technology might be impacting us and what steps we need to take to keep ourselves and our children safe.

EMF Protection Tips for Men

Don’t Carry Phones in Pockets

Guys, keeping the cell phone in your pocket puts a major source of EMF radiation right by your reproductive organs. Instead, opt for keeping it in a backpack or remember to take it out of your pocket when you get to where you’re going. If possible, put the phone on airplane mode before sliding it into your pocket to lower your risk of EMF harm.

Keep Laptops Off the Lap

“Lap” might be in the name, but working with your laptop right on top of your lap puts your reproductive organs in direct contact with EMF radiation. It might not always be as comfortable, but try keeping the laptop on a desk or table when sitting down to work to minimize your exposure.

Consider EMF Protection Products

In addition to reducing your amount of direct contact with EMF-emitting devices, products such as Aires Tech devices can give you an extra layer of protection. I’ve spent a lot of time during my EMF-education journey and looking at so many different “solutions” out there and nothing stands the test against Aires Tech. With over 20 years of research, holding patents and being a public company this is a proven technology device, not a ‘sticker’ that you have no idea what it is doing or how it is doing what it claims it’s doing.

EMF Protection Tips for Women

Keep Devices Off the Abdomen

We’re all guilty of setting our phones on our laps or near our stomachs when scrolling, but this is putting our reproductive organs in direct contact with EMFs. Especially during pregnancy, be mindful of keeping phones, tablets, and laptops away from the tummy.

Limit the Wi-Fi

Whenever possible, opt for wired internet connections and devices. Choose corded headphones over bluetooth headphones, swap the smartwatch for a classic watch, ditch the “smart” appliances, and turn off Wi-Fi routers or devices when you aren’t using them.

Use EMF Protection

Some companies have designed special EMF-blocking maternity wear to shield your body and baby from harmful radiation. When trying to conceive, consider also investing in EMF protection devices like my personal favorites from Aires Tech to modulate harmful EMFs into a form more compatible with our biology. As mentioned above, they are the real thing and I haven’t been able to find any other company out there that has the published research, studies and proof of effectiveness like Aires Tech. Create an EMF-Free Bedroom

Our bodies need quality sleep to restore and repair for optimal reproductive health and hormone balance. Remove unnecessary electronic devices and get in the habit of turning off the router before bed to significantly reduce your overall EMF exposure. (This could also improve your sleep, which you’ll need plenty of once the baby arrives!)

Take Steps Now to Protect Your Future

At the end of the day, it’s all about taking small, proactive steps to protect your family’s health. EMFs may be invisible, but their effects are very real. Reducing your exposure can make a big difference when it comes to your reproductive health and the health of your future children.

If you’re planning to start a family – now or in the future – take these steps to reduce your exposure to EMFs and look into using EMF protection. It’s an easy and effective way to look out for the wellbeing of your future family.
